Hi,

XDrawString16 isn't enough bytes to send unicode is it?

What is being done in the way of X unicode font management and rendering other
than cairo?

I know how arbitrary glyph rendering could be done well in an updated
core X way, but i'll need to poke around more in the X server internals.

BTW, is it only me that thinks anti-aliased text rendering
is a Really Bad Idea?

On some proprietory systems there is no anti-aliasing (seeing by the
absence of grey pixels), and so the pure black pixels of the text
has a wonderfully high contrast and sharpness. The text shaping is
pretty good too, despite the limited resolution with a 10pt font.
