Here the results of some quick test:

 test 1: Depth 24: no differences on problems 1,2,3

test 2: Depth 24 + renderAccel off: no differences on problems 1,2, 
but menu items are always invisible,
my workaround with KDE setting is not more useful.

test 3: depth 24 + colortiling off-> no differences on 1,2,3

Ok, tomorrow I'll do all the tests you required and then I'll file 3 
different defects in http://bugs.freedesktop.org/
