1680x1050 dual head on i810 (830M chip)

Hi xorg gurus, need your help!

I'm trying to configure Xorg for dual head on Fedora Core 5 with 20'
external monitor connected to a laptop. Laptop is fujitsu "lifebook"
with Intel 830M chip and 15' LCD supporting 1024x768. External monitor
is Samsung SyncMaster 205BW, with max resolution 1680x1050.

[I think] my configuration recognizes 2 screens and 2 devices

but then X fails with this error:
(EE) I810(0): No Video BIOS modes for chosen depth.
(EE) I810(1): Failed to setup second head due to primary head failure.
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

If I comment out BusID for second "Device", X starts but only one
(internal LCD) screen works.

After reading in archives and some active googling,  I suspect that I'm
hitting something that is related to a feature of some intel 8xx/9xx
chips: load only video modes stored in BIOS.  But my  'x-knowledge'  is
 fairly limited, so I cannot  figure out the right solution.

I tried to overwrite vbios with 855resolution:
MODE="4d"
RESOLUTION="1680 1050"
But I don't think that it's working in my case. Reading vbios again
shows no changes.

I've attached my xorg.conf and log output for both working and
non-working situations, and output of 855resolution.
