As "correct" as it can be if it works on your hardware. :-)

Right, the whole point of the modesetting branch is to remove the BIOS,
so to deal with all the different types of output devices - like TV
encoders, SDVO encoders, etc, etc. it's a lot of work, that the BIOS
used to do for us.
