having Virtual be smaller than Mode size?

Radeon driver

Here it is
I started from a cvt 1232 768 74 --reduced-blanking modeline
(screen ratio is 16/10, I wanted a 4/3 1024*768 and the 74 is to avoid
the default 1024*768 at 75 mode stamping on my modeline)

I used xrandr in a term to switch on my new 1024*768 at 74 mode once
logged, and the result occupied the full screen
