hello,

altough this list is officially described as a developers list I hope I can
find help for my i915 troubles - I'ven't found any users list yet....

I'm using a Lifebook C1320 laptop computer with an pci express Intel Intel
Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03) (as
lspci) on debian testing / etch and KDE 3.5.3 (all special-effects are turned
off). My x.org version is 7.0.22 and I'm using a selfbuilt 2.6.7.6 kernel.
DRM for i915 included as module and loaded at bootime. (I'm not using xgl,
etc.)
Sadly, for some reasong 2D graphics appearing "rather" slow. Sitting in front
of my computer feels like working in a xdcmp-session on 10Mbit/sec (or
50MBit/sec in fast moments.) - this includes
- Being able to move my mouse faster, than a drawing-program (Krita) can draw.
(It might be fun for someone seeing my mouse moving ghostly across my screen.
- If ending a session the screen is fade out by KDE. (Useally, this is done
instantly, but it takes a full seceond here and I see display fading out from
top to bottom.)
- If touching the scroll button, the cursor doesn't stop at the moment I stop
pressing it - it moves on few 2 up to 20-30 seconds, depending how long I'ven
been pressing it - backspace does so as well.

Btw. While writing this mail Xorg consumes 10-30% of my 1,8Ghz CPU. That's a
lot - isn't it? (KMail takes 6-10).

This latency and CPU usage makes using X rather painful at the moment.

Another point is, that DRI is not working.
glxinfo says:
name of display: :0.0
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: No
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
server glx extensions:

Thus something seems to be wrong here - do you know what? (xorg.conf and log
see below)

Thanks in advance.
Keep smiling
