Keyboard shortcuts to application using Xlib

Hello
I am new to Xlib....
I have to set some keyboard shortcuts for an application and need to know if
this can be done using Xlib functions. If this can be done then what are the
functions I can use.

It would be good if I get links to some code as well.
please reply asap as i need it urgently
