ATi is not that much worse. I would not use either due binary only cruft.
If r300 is enough 3D computing power for your needs I would choose
such a card.
Btw. there is still some older NVidia 3D code in the utah-glx, maybe we
find someone with spare time to poart that to DRI/DRM? Maybe a Google
summer coding project 2006?
