Hello.
I got the contents of the abovementioned directory yesterday and
tried to build with the build-from-tarballs.sh script from git;
it didn't work out flawlessly as I had to fetch this'n'that,
but with the releases under individual I finally got through.
Now first of all the xf86-video-vesa didn't want to function,
complaining about the xserver ABI being too old..?..?
(vesa was not something I fetched from 'individual').
So I fetched xorg-server-1.2.99.0 and built it all again,
resulting in a working xserver, but with keyboard problems:
- no <Alt> modifiers were working, resulting in
e.g. the impossibility to vt-switch and
unreachable symbols on my german keyboard
(AltGr[right Alt]+q giving @ for example)
- xorgcfg, which I built intentionally, complains
"Couldn't get keyboard" and is unable to work
regarding keyboard configuration
I noticed that while in git-builds, xkdata seems to be
no longer up-to-date and xkbdesc/xkeybord-config is needed
for our german keyboard to do what we want,
in the http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/development/X11R7.2-RC2/
directory, xkbdata is still part of the release and
build-from-tarballs.sh
still builds/installs it...
Has anyone experienced similar problems regarding
behaviour of the keyboard? Are xkbdata/xkbdesc needed both,
or if not so, which one?
Is there another problem regarding xorgcfg, apart from xkbdata/xkbdesc?
I build on a fresh LinuxFromScratch - install, so there are no
other Xorgs which could disturb the build.
greetings,
Jens
