No, perhaps I haven't (if it doesn't come with the git_xorg-
script-checkout I did to get the sources).
 	....
Mrmpf..  found it. It seems like there is no way to get
xkeyboard-config via git, yet. Ok so far, but it isn't mentioned
anywhere, so how could one know one needs it?

Anyway, unfortunately the installation of said package/module
didn't change anything. There is still no modifier available :((
and so there is 
	a) no way to change to console
	b) no way to get @ | and other modifier-dependent symbols
	   out of X

It makes no difference if this is xkeyboard-config (0.9 from tar)
or a fresh cvs-checkout of xkbdesc.
