Are these changes your own, or are they in the tree? What's the  
fastest, simplest way to get them installed with FC5 x86-64?

I believe that the source of the 1088 versus 1080 is that 1088  
divides by 16 evenly, whereas 1080 does not. And MPEG-2's encoding  
prefers/requires resolutions to be divisible by 16, if I recall.
