experiences with dual-dvi on ATI Radeon cards / NV-cards

The version I am using is the ones that comes with debian etch
xserver-xorg 7.1.0-16 and nvidia 1.0.8776.

It seems application dependent, I can only trigger the behavour when
Matlab is running (restarting Matlab does not help).
