Missed that comment. Here are those numbers as well:

Etch benchmark with Xorg/Vesa:

  cf-18:~/Xorg_Performance/pygtk$ ./pixmap_perf.py
  Time to draw a pixmap over a pixmap 5000 times: 55.300165
  cf-18:~/Xorg_Performance/pygtk$ ./image_perf.py
  Time to flip the blue overlay 500 times: 38.392552

Lenny benchmark with Xorg/Vesa:

  cf-18:~/Xorg_Performance/pygtk$ ./pixmap_perf.py
  Time to draw a pixmap over a pixmap 5000 times: 56.187047
  cf-18:~/Xorg_Performance/pygtk$ ./image_perf.py
  Time to flip the blue overlay 500 times: 38.075571

Very consistent performance running with the Vesa driver...
