xterm 225 remote display problem with mixed endianness and Xft fonts

Hi,

I've noticed one annoying problem with xterm-225:

when running with Xft fonts on a big-endian machine (macppc, sparc64 in
my cases) with remote display (through an ssh X11 tunnel) on a little
endian machine (32 or 64 bits x86), text is rendered with the background
color, and is thus invisible.

It happens both with OpenBSD and Mac OS X hosts, with the default
configuration (ie ./configure --prefix=/usr/local, without any
customization).

Local display on big-endian and little endian machine is ok.

Remote display with server-side fonts is ok too.

The previous version I used and didn't expose this behaviour was 216.
I've not tried any versions in-between, so I don't know when it appeared
first.

Any ideas of what's causing that, or available patches?
