Two screen setup

All,

I have a simple question about a 2 screen setup. I have an nvidia card and I
am using the nvidia driver. My card has a VGA output and a DVI output. The
VGA output is connected to a small touchscreen device which goes up to around
848x480 or 1024x768 (according to the fine manual). The DVI output is
connected to a standard 19" iiyama LCD. I would like the default output
(i.e. where $login_manager is displayed) to be the DVI connection.

I think that a 2 screen setup is most appropriate because the two screens have
different dimensions. Also I would rather have two separate screens as I
have no intention of dragging windows between the two, what is on the
touchscreen will fullscreen and fixed (some video, my playlist, etc) and I
can open up new windows as needed.

At the moment it seems that the touchscreen is the primary screen, the
$login_manager is displayed on it and the LCD does not display anything until
I login (whereby it acts as a second screen in $window_manager). However,
despite the configuration the LCD uses 800x600 and the touchscreen seems to
use 640x480. If I swap the "Screen 0/1" around in the Device section then
the touchscreen complains that it is out of range and the LCD displays
nothing.

So some hopefully easy questions:

1) Am I going about this the right way?
2) How can I specify that the iiyama will be the "main" screen
3) How can I get the correct resolution on both devices?

My current (broken!) configuration is attached, as is Xorg.0.log from an
example session.
