What resolutions will my card support / virtual size

Hi
I am thinking of buying an 1680x1050 60 Hz LCD monitor but want to be
sure my card (an old Nvidia TNT2 ultra) will be able to drive that
resolution.
If I look in my Xorg (I have X.Org 7.2 from Ubuntu Feisty) log file I see
(II) NV(0): Not using default mode "1680x1050" (width too large for
virtual size)
or
(II) NVIDIA(0): Not using default mode "1680x1050" (width too large
for virtual size)
depending on what driver I use.
Elsewhere it says:
(--) NV(0): Virtual size is 1600x1200 (pitch 1600)
or
(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be 1600 x 1200
My current CRT has a maximum resolution of 1600x12000.
Am I correct in thinking that my card would drive the 1680x1050
resolution if it had a monitor attached that would display it but
because off the current monitor X.Org is setting the virtual size to
that maximum and the mode is disabled?
Is there some magic command which will tell me all the resolutions my
card will support?
Thanks
Paul
