At the moment, your best bet is probably to use the 'xrandr'
application. It should be part of your distribution, if not you can
get it from freedesktop.org. I've heard of various KDE & GNOME related
projects that are implementing front ends for the new Randr1.2
extension, but I don't know of any that are usable yet.
