I hope this gets fixed eventually, but it's a rather systemic problem as
the X server currently has no way of waiting for the hardware; spinning
is not the most efficient use of the CPU.

This is, however, something which shouldn't take any new hardware
knowledge to fix, so if you are sufficiently motivated...
