Do you still have HorizSync and VertRefresh listings in your xorg.conf?
If so, comment them out and restart the X server.

If you do a "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" you should also be presented
with an option to write sync rates to the xorg.conf or leave them out.
It's best to leave them out now.
