xf86-video-ati-6.7.195 - don't load my customized video mode - and seems to work only with the buggy DDC video modes.

Configuration has changed a bit for randr 1.2 capable drivers.  you
can add custom modes at runtime using the xrandr --newmode and xrandr
--addmode commands, or you can add modelines to your config file,
however the format has changed a bit.  See this page for more

the page references intel cards, but the configuration options apply
to any randr capable driver.
