I hope you don't mean that cairo code would start to look like:

if (XCurrentDriver(dpy) == "radeon" || XCurrentDriver(dpy) == "nvidia")
...
else if (XCurrentDriver(dpy) == "intel")
...

because that sounds insane to me :)
