I see this too, on my HP Pavilon dv2000, 945GM and Dell E307WFP. I run
LVDS and VGA, mirrored, at 1680x1050. The problem occurs after a few

xserver is 1.4.1 (git20080105)
intel is 2.2.0 (git20080107)

both on ubuntu.

I also see this bug, with flickering on VGA output. I have not noticed
it on the LVDS panel.
