Yeah, you'd have to wait for 1.5 (RCs) to enter experimental or try an
upstream snapshot.

Looks like there's no write combining for video RAM. That certainly
doesn't help, but it shouldn't be a huge problem; there shouldn't be too
many direct CPU writes to video RAM. It definitely doesn't explain any
difference between EXA and XAA.
