Weird Xaw/Xserver bug

Further testing shows that it uses "-*-*-*-R-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-ISO8859-1"
even after doing the OpenFont on the correct xlfd.

And I can find no reference to that string, except as an example in the
Xaw(3) manpage and the Xt specification.  (Which suggests that the
OpenFont must be failing, even though it works for other apps.)

Again, ideas welcome.
