accelaration method for intel

Hello,
   as a followup of my post from 3.6.2008 
(http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2008-June/035887.html), I 
investigated further the problem of bad rendering with 855GM graphics 
card when certain application are launched (etc. Iceape, Firefox). It 
worked well with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.1.0-2, but not with later 
driver version, including the latest git version.

The problem seems to be in the EXA acceleration method which became the
default one in 2.1.0 version. The problem disappears when introducing
the option
         Option          "AccelMethod"        "XAA"
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

The EXA acceleration method is supposed to be better & simpler, but
apparently has some troubles when used with the older video cards. Maybe
this info is of some use for someone else, eventually could someone
improve the EXA method so that it works properly also with i855GM ?
