Intel GM965 output scaling

My Lenovo T61 has a 1280x800 LCD and an Intel 965 graphics chip.  If I
choose a different screen resolution (e.g. 1024x768), the display is
stretched and loses the correct aspect ratio.

Is this something that can be fixed in the intel driver?
