EDID failing with Intel driver

Hi,
With Xserver 1.4.1 and -intel 2.3.1 (current Debian unstable) my
laptop's (ThinkPad X60) Intel 945 doesn't read the EDID data from my
external TFT monitor (a Dell 2007FPW). My laptop reads the EDID in
Windows fine, and a MacBook running OS X also reads the EDID correctly.
Is there any way to debug this? The xorglog contains lines indicating
that it found something but it only reads modes from the 1024x768 LVDS
not the 1680x1050 VGA panel.

I'll happily rebuild the X server if there is a number I should change
or a define to enable debugging.
Cheers,
Ross
