Xinput for whiteboards

Hello,

I have been asked to create a electronic whiteboard driver for Linux.  I am in
the process of creating the Linux kernel driver, which is going well so far.

The whiteboard not only issues coordinates but also pen size, colour and battery
status.

However I am going to need to send events to X so that my Qt application can
pick up the x11Events() which Qt can listen for.

Could anybody point me in the right direction of someone to talk to or something
to read regarding how to go about this?
