xorg-server-1.5.3 + xf86-video-intel-2.6.3 is slow at 2D

Until yesterday, I was using the xorg server 1.3.0. I was very satisfied with
it, but my distribution (Gentoo) moved 1.5.3 into stable and I had to
upgrade. The problem that is most annoying to me is that everything in
konsole (KDE's terminal emulator) is drawn considerably slow. I can see how
mc builds its ui. It happens that I'm very sensitive at how my desktop moves
in 2D (I'm not a 3D fan). I've tried using XAA instead of EXA, but that did
not help. Is there anything I can do to speed up the 2D ops?

My graphics card is an Intel 945GM and I'm running a 2.6.27 Linux kernel
(amd64). I've attached both xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log.

Thank you,

Mihai Donțu
