Very large resolutions

I seem to remember a thread a while back where someone was talking about the
limits of the size of a combined screen that can be produced.

I run a 6 screen setup with 3 video cards (all nvidia) under a OS from
redmond, and I've always wanted to upgrade.

Currently the combined footprint is 3840x2048 from 6 identical 1280x1024
screens.

Is this still an impossibility?
