Attempting to track down radeon driver issue(s)?

Ok.  I'll try disabling  this setting.  (I think I've tried disabling
this and other settings, but with no change.)  I'll let you know if
this makes any difference.  I've tried so may different things it's
hard to remember each combination ;-(.
