BTW, the first thing I did with 1.8.0 was:

-xorgconfddir = $(prefix)/etc/X11/$(XF86CONFIGDIR)
+xorgconfddir = $(sysconfdir)/X11/$(XF86CONFIGDIR)

in config/Makefile.am
