That was probably generated from the XFree86 version, since those functions
didn't exist in the X Consortium/Open Group X11R6.4 official release.  They
would have first appeared in X11R6.7, when the X.Org Foundation took over the
official X11R* releases and merged in most of the XFree86 4.x changes.

Hmm, looks like that change failed to get merged back into the master spec.

It is in the man pages shipped with libX11 in the X11R7.* releases though:
