Hi,

Im trying to write a small application wich observe a room in my house.
My resources:
 - USB Webcam
 - Ubuntu Netbook Remix

Is it possible to take a snapshot in the command shell? I tried this
command:

---------------------
xawtv -o, -outfile base
---------------------

to take a actual snapshot of the room.
But i get this error:

---------------------
xdpyinfo: unable to open display "".
This is xawtv-3.95.dfsg.1, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.31-22-generic)
Error: Can't open display:
---------------------

(I'm root)

If i start xawtv in the gui, it works fine.

So my target is, that i call a homepage in my network that returns me the
actual image of the room.

Finally i only need the shell script (that takes the actual snapshot) to
complete my work :D

Can you please help me?

Thank you very much
