Legal implementations of vectorizing copyrighted images (was Re: [Clipart] Can't submit clipart)

The Norwegian law says the remake have to "stand for itself" - say you
remade in vectorized format a Munch painting you wouldn't be able to
make it identical so that would be okay.

Basically, you'd have to just use your brain to find out when your
remake "stands for itself" - but that's a poor way of saying it to guide
people.

I do think, though, that remakes that are almost identical are okay as
long as the original is not a registered trademark. I'm not sure.
