Yes, they are placeholders. I thought I made that reasonably clear when I said:

"Hence I put in those massive buttons. This is also our
chance to show off visually, it would be lovely to have some really bold,
graphically interesting buttons. Anyone want to volunteer?"

But ok.

Well Jon suggested the top bar and I agreed.

I don't think the complexity of the layout really matters, so long as the
placement gives affiliates *enough* focus without giving them *too much* of it.
I think in your mockups it has too much focus. It seems to suggest that visiting
an affiliate is equally important to browsing/downloading the collection, which
of course, it's not. And yeah, probably the top bar is too much focus too. In
light of that, I hate to say it, but I'm going to suggest the bottom of the
sidebar again. I don't have any better ideas.

I'm going to have a go at making some buttons too and we can see what we come up
with.
