Man, this Clip Art Requests page
(http://openclipart.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ClipartRequests) is really growing. To
go through this list and make graphics, submit them to openclipart.org and then
put them at the bottom of that page as a "Fulfilled Request" would be great
first tasks for people who would like to contribute to the project.
My goal is to make a place on the main site that shows current requests for clip
art. I really think that this should become an integral part of the project in
having people complete requests.
Really, these are non-technical feature requests from the project, right?
Any thoughts on implementation? If we just wanna do basic, then we should have
something akin to the "Submit Screenshot" page, however if we want to get more
technical we could get a bugzilla account from freedesktop.org and have a Clip
Art Request category and have a direct link to this for people to submit their
requests. That way we could track new requests, and when they are completed.
My fear though about this solution is that it would be too technical. I think
that something more friendly that doesn't leave the comfort of the site-design
and is very basic like:
Clip Art Request
Topic: [could reuse current topic choices]
Contact Name: required handle or name
Contact E-mail: required email
Title: short summary
Description: longer textarea for summary
Deadline: possibly if a deadline is needed...also a disclaimer stating that
there is not guarantee that the clip art will be completed by this time, but if
urgent, please make those intentions known and possibly mail the mailing list.
I made this wiki page with this idea if anyone would like to massage these ideas
a bit: http://www.openclipart.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Feature_Requests
If this grows (like I think it might), we might have to make another mailing
list for clip art requests. Immediately though this
Also, since we no longer use mantis for bug tracking, I created this wiki page
to track feature requests and also for people to flesh out their ideas for
features so that others can help:
