... but only because it is less to type. I continue to strongly object to
any efforts to use acronyms in branding out of laziness

I try to always use OpenClipart.org so as to advertise both the project
and where to find it. I was going to argue it better for our search
engine ranking to always use OpenClipart.org but if you search for OCAL we
do come up third but I fully expect us to become the number one hit for
clipart soon enough.

For the purpose of an acedemic paper and one that will likely need to be
presented and spoken aloud it makes sense to define the terms at the
start and use them conistently and it is better to use a word that is
clear and easily pronouncable.

> * "rewarding contributors" - we don't actually reward anyone,

we try to be nice, and praise people for their work which is something all
open source projects should do but many do not bother.

* Look at me * look what I can do!

I want to make Inkscape look good for supporting SVG
I want to make OpenOffice look stupid for not supporting SVG

are these questions any different from ones you would ask of any other
Open Source project? (I'm not sure but if there are any distinctions they
could be interesting)
