I've restored part of the OCAL website. I've left uploads and word
press disabled due to security concerns, but the library and assorted
documentation pages can now be browsed.
I think we'll be able to get the rest of the site up, but we're very
short of manpower right now, and we could *really* use your help.
Where we need the most help is in organizing the clip art. This is an
extremely important job, and doesn't require any programming skills.
You need to know how to view SVG files and how to run command line
programs.
As you can imagine, we get clip art from a LOT of different sources.
Sometimes people don't put in keywords, or write them in other languages
(or just spell them differently). Sometimes people send in multiple
copies of the same image. Sometimes the images get put into the wrong
categories. And the project grows so quickly that categories get filled
up! So we need to make new categories.
In addition, we also are in great need for good toolsmiths. As a
project we've assembled a good toolbox of scripts to deal with the
myriad SVG issues we've run into, but we always need more. We add
around a thousand files a month, so you can imagine how important
good tools are!
Anyway, if either of these sound like something you'd like to
participate in, please let me or one of the other ocal'ers know, and
we'll help you get started.
Bryce
