Does whatever function you are using to grab the filename return any
additional information which could be used to improve accuracy without
slowing down the process? Checking files with identical bytesize might
help without being quite a slow as running a checksum.

I think when we reach 10 thousand we could then say something like "Over
Ten Thousand files, in over a hundred distinct categories"  or something
along those lines, like how many different contributors we have had.

Soon enough OpenClipart.org will be so huge the numbers will be
virtually meaningless, a victim of our own sucess!

Not a bad way to be.
