Hi!
I'd like to introduce a few changes in the text of the http://openclipart.org/cchost/media/submit page, starting with the first field, the one where people submit cliparts:
"Please submit your Vector-based Clip Art."
>> I'd change that to "Please submit your Vector-based SVG Clip Art." Adding the word "SVG" will ensure that people undertand from the beginning that we accept only SVG, and not all kind of vector graphics.
"To submit using this upload form, the clipart you are submitting must be all your own work."
>> I'd delete that because Public domain cliparts can be created by someone else than the submitter. I'd rather put here the following:
"The clipart you are submitting must be in the Public Domain (copyright free). We don't accept copyrighted graphics of any kind (i.e. logos)."
"Make sure you are submitting your image as an SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), or several SVG in a ZIP archive."
I'd change that to the following:
"Make sure you are submitting your image in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) file format, SVGZ file format (compressed SVG) or several SVG files in a ZIP archive. Also, SVG files containing embedded and/or linked bitmaps aren't accepted."
Also I'd add information about the maximum file size here. Something like:
"The maximum file size of a submission is 300Kb"
In the end it's gonna look like that:
Please submit your Vector-based SVG Clip Art. The clipart you are submitting must be in the Public Domain (copyright free). We don't accept copyrighted graphics of any kind (i.e. logos). Make sure you are submitting your image in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) file format, SVGZ file format (compressed SVG) or several SVG files in a ZIP archive. Also, SVG files containing embedded and/or linked bitmaps aren't accepted. The maximum file size of a submission is 300Kb.
What do you think of these changes?
Also, about the SVGZ format, maybe it should'nt be listed yet. We'll add it when it's gonna be supported. Is someone working on that? Unfortunately my programming skill are close to 0 so I can't help you with that :(
