Right, well, we were packaging SVG-only releases for the last few
releases: http://openclipart.org/media/downloads

We had a full and an svg-only.

Bryce is working on this for Inkscape and there is more in the works :)

Yes, agree...as well, there will be scalability limits to what we can
ship. I think providing packaging tools is going to be ultimately super
cool and we will focus on one curated package with the best of the best
for distros. Also, some distros, like gentoo allow for s/ftp and other
ways to download packages so huge packages may be streamed depending
upon some USE flag options.
