[Clipart] A couple of server problems

I wrote a small script to create a tarball with all SVG and SVGZ files 
from  the "people" directory (effectively, a snapshot of the clipart 
available in ccHost) but I have a couple of problems (it seems like I am 
doing some things the wrong way):

- I put the script (snapshot_svg.sh) in /var/www/openclipart.org/bin/ 
but I don't have the permission to run it from there (I can run it just 
fine from other places, like my home dir);
- the script saves the result in 
/var/www/openclipart.org/www/downloads/daily_SVG_snapshot.tgz (a 35MB 
archive) but is not visible on 
http://download.openclipart.org/downloads/ despite being world readable, 
is not that the correct destination?

Once I have it working correctly my intention is to follow up with 
support at osuosl to set it as a daily cron job.
