The DiscLabel label design program for Mac OS X uses the keywords in
the <dc:subject> metadata to provide a clipart browser for downloaded
(local) SVG clipart files.
It uses Apple's Spotlight searching technology to do this, so the
program includes a Spotlight module, thus users can search for
keywords system-wide as long as DiscLabel has been installed and
launched once on their computer.
So from my perspective (a DiscLabel developer), it would be very nice
if the tags applied to a clipart on the web site were actually
embedded in the SVG instead of just associated with the file somehow
on the web server.
I can offer a limited amount of time to help with packaging stuff, but
my recent background is all Cocoa framework work, so there is likely
to be a lot of "coming up to speed" with any existing code. I'm
guessing you guys aren't using NSXMLDocument to parse SVG files like I
am :-)
Cheers,
Brian
