Maybe it's just me, but I tend to think future contests should if
possible be geared toward kinds of artwork that would enrich the
library, things that users will be able to use on an ongoing basis,
beyond one conference or whatever.  

So, for instance...

 * Jungle clip-art contest.
 * Party clip-art contest.
 * Swimming clip-art contest.
 * Library clip-art contest.
 * School clip-art contest.
 * Office clip-art contest.
 * Religious clip-art contest.
 * Landscape contest.
 * City clip-art contest.
 * Small-town clip-art contest.
 * Farming clip-art contest.

Or go by genre...

 * Photorealism contest.
 * Impressionism contest.
 * Expressionism contest.
 * Cartoon clip-art contest.
 * Anime-themed clip-art contest.
 * Abstract clip-art contest.
 * Surrealist clip-art contest.

Or, it could be more concept-oriented...
   
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of fun.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of ownership.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of time.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of speech.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of making.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of going.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of doing.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of sound.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of identity.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of giving.
 * Contest for visual representation of the concept of work.

   of American Gothic in an urban setting, or a Persistence of Memory
   parody with digital clocks, or a daytime verson of Starry Night,
   that sort of thing; the contest could either be for parodies of a
   specific work, or could be left a little more open-ended for famous
   works in general).   
 * Pattern contest for tileable patterns meeting common requirements
   (woodgrain, stone, brick, linoleum, carpet, wallpaper, water, etc).
   Again, the contest could be for a particular type of pattern or it
   could be general.
 * Desktop wallpaper contest.  This also could be made more specific
   (abstract wallpaper, scenic wallpaper, animal wallpaper, etc.) or
   left general.

I know, it'll probably be harder to find prize donors for things that
aren't tied to a sponsor, but honestly most of the FCRC logo
submissions have very little value as clip art, or for any other
purpose once the contest is completed.
