Hello,

I don't want to tell anybody their job and generalize in order to avoid
giving such an impression
>Hi guys, please take your personal business off this now. We need to get
our new site finished..
I understand the desire to avoid dealing with conflicts between human
beings in the community but it unfortunately is unavoidable when people are
being harmful to members of your community, especially when privileges that
were previously given to the offender by you are being used for that
purpose.
A librarian represents OCAL. A librarian's behavior is an example of what
behavior is acceptable in OCAL's community.
If a representative of a website uses the website features to insult a
user, acting personal, emotional, aggressive, and if such behavior is not
desired on this website, this clearly indicates that the representative
should not be a representative of the website.
I assume a site administer can verify by asking an accused representative
or by analyzing site logs, whether such action has taken place and take the
steps necessary to revoke the representative status.
Not reacting to such possible situation is a valid and time-saving choice
in the short term. It would have the negative consequence of encouraging
previously mentioned behavior and giving users valid reason to fear abuse
when participating in content creation and indexation on OCAL and
discussion on OCAL mailing list. In the long term ignoring such issues
destroys the community.
I hope that OCAL administration is not willing to accept OCAL
representatives to behave in personal, emotional and aggressive ways.
Cheers,
Iwan
