HAL + 6 in 1 USB flash reader - constant errors to log

Upon upgrading to Fedora Core 3, HAL started filling my log with errors 
in trying to access my Genesys 6-in-one Flash card reader. There is no 
media in the reader. I've stopped the flood by switching from blacklist 
mode to whitelist mode, but that obviously means I lose the automounting 
of media.

The information about how to create the .fdi files needed to blacklist 
the changer, or to inform HAL not to constantly autoscan the changer, or 
otherwise prevent the flood of messages is unclear in the man pages, or 
in the information online that I have found.

What do I need to do to correct this?
