hald not establishing a connection to dbus?

Ran hald with this command :
coldfire root # /usr/sbin/hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes 2> /root/hald.log

added the lines <!--
when drive was ejected, and re-inserted, waited 2 minuites, and killed the 
daemon with a ctrl-c

Since the log is so huge, I posted to httpd instead of utterly filling an 
email.
