volume and storage policy properties

Hello, everyone.

Could anyone please tell me why volume and storage policy properties (volume.policy.* & storage.policy.*)
are missing in the recent HAL spec? Are they deprecated? Is there any
replace for them?
I have also found that functions to work with these properties are
marked as deprecated in libhal-storage...
