Small X11R6.8.2RC1 status report ...

Small status report&&comments about the X11R6.8.2 RC1 (release canidate
1):
- All patches which were approved have been comitted
- The tree's version number has been bumped to X11R6.8.1.901 - the "901"
means "RC1" ("902" would be "RC2" then etc. etc.)
- Linux/x86: The tree builds on SuSE Linux 8.2 without problems, "make
install" and "make install.man" work, sample applications, Xvfb and Xprt
seem to be working, too. I am going to do a full test with VMware and
Xorg/nv driver on my laptop later today...
* Solaris/SPARC: The build currently fails when building "scanpci", I
filed https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2096 (this is
currently the only blocker bug which I'd like to see resolved _today_
(e.g. RC1 is going to be tagged this evening (TZ=MET), either with or
without a fix for bug 2096) before I am going to tag the tree as RC1)
- AIX/PPC: Still trying to get the RS/6000 working here (don't worry...
I am not holding the release off if I can't get the box running... :)
- Many many patches went "in" for the radeon driver (and I doubt that
this patch combination was ever tested in that way) ... it would be nice
if someone could pull the branch, build it and verify that the radeon
driver still works
- I am going to make a full annoucement after the tree has been tagged
(which depends on either bug 2096 or when the moon is rising here
again... :) ...
- Please do not make packages for distributions until the tree has been
tagged (as I don't know what will change to get bug 2096 fixed (and
maybe AIX if I get that box running, too))
